Belarusian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev off to ISS

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – The cosmonaut of Belarusian ethnicity Oleg Artemyev has left Earth for the International Space Station as part of the Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft crew, BelTA learned from Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Sergei Kilin before the session of the executive committee of the Association of Space Explorers on 22 March.

“Three people went to the ISS yesterday, including Oleg Artemyev. He is a Belarusian-Russian cosmonaut. His parents live in Vitebsk now,” said the official.

According to the TASS news agency, the Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev and the NASA astronauts Andrew Feustel and Richard Arnold left for the ISS on 21 March. It will be the second trip to the ISS for Oleg Artemyev, the third one for Andrew Feustel, and the second one for Richard Arnold. The Soyuz-FG spacecraft lifted off the Baikonur launch facility at 20:44 Moscow time.
