Belarusian circus to open new season with Africa!?! show

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Artists from Africa will perform in the Belarusian State Circus for the first time over the past years, Art Director of the Belarusian State Circus Vytautas Grigaliunas told media after the dress rehearsal on 24 September, BelTA has learned.

On 25 September the new season at the Belarsuian circus will kick off with the Africa!?! show.

The program will feature a number of acts from Ethiopian gymnasts and jugglers, Olga Borisova’s lions, the world’s only choir of giant crocodiles directed by Alexander Orlov, pythons, donkeys, dogs and monkeys as well as equilibrists and clowns.

Many acts of the program are quite difficult to perform. Thus, in a lion act the big cat is raised high into the air. According to animal trainers, the most difficult thing is to get the animal used to being lifted off the ground. Ropewalking is another difficult act with the participation of lions.

“The first shows are almost sold out, which proves the audience’s love and interest in the circus art,” said Vytautas Grigaliunas.

The art director added that the circus is working on a program that will include only Belarusian artists. This season Belarusian artists are mainly involved in various international festivals and tours as the Belarusian circus school has a lot to show and entertain. The national program is scheduled for H2 2016.
