Belarusian-Chinese art exhibition opens in Gomel

GOMEL, 9 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Chinese exhibition Images of Women in Chinese and Belarusian Art opened in Gomel on 9 March, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition features several dozens of works by two renowned artists, Cui Jingzhe and Marina Elyashevich. Attending the opening ceremony was Belarusian Culture Minister Boris Svetlov who praised the unusual approach to the organization of the exhibition. “We see a very interesting combination. The two artists use different painting techniques. They have different ways of thinking, different visions of a woman. Still, they share the same spiritual and moral values,” he noted.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming praised the dynamics of the Belarusian-Chinese cultural cooperation. He added that work is underway to implement the agreement on mutual establishment of culture centers.

Cui Jingzhe is a Chinese artist, Executive Vice President at Hebei Academy of Fine Arts. He paints Chinese landscapes and portraits. The artist has successfully held exhibitions in more than ten countries within the past five years only.

Marina Elyashevich studied in Moscow, Istanbul, and Beijing. In her art she uses East Asian painting techniques, such as ink wash painting, and also European techniques. The book Chinese Painting with artist’s works was published in 2012. Marina Elyashevich regularly gives charity workshops on traditional Chinese painting.

The exhibition will later be on display in Minsk. After that it will tour the Baltic countries.
