Belarusian-Bangladeshi university may be opened in Dhaka

NEW DELHI, 27 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Bangladeshi university may be opened in Dhaka. A corresponding business plan is in the pipeline, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of India and Bangladesh (on concurrent) Vitaly Prima.

“Today we can say that this university will specialize in technical sciences. The Belarusian State Technical University and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics are taking part in the project on Belarus’ behalf. We are currently mulling over a proposal that Bangladesh will ensure the construction of the necessary infrastructure and provide financing. Belarus will offer modern educational programs and technologies, provide lecturers,” the Ambassador said.

Vitaly Prima reminded that promising areas of science, education and technology were discussed at the first session of the Belarusian-Bangladeshi commission for scientific and technical cooperation in Dhaka in April. “The sides have determined a list of projects which will be implemented with the participation of the two sides in the near future, and signed a program of Belarus-Bangladesh cooperation in science and technology for 2015-2016. It provides for the exchange of students and assistance in training programs, carrying out joint research,” the diplomat added.

At president major Belarusian exports to Bangladesh are potash fertilizers and manufacturing products. Belarus imports jute yarn, hosiery, textiles and tobacco raw materials from Bangladesh.
