Belarusian athlete inducted into International Gymnastics Hall of Fame

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Belarusian gymnast Ivan Ivankov has been inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame, BelTA has learned.

The annual ceremony to honor new inductees will be held in Oklahoma City, the United States, on 18 May.

Ivan Ivankov is a two-time world all-around champion (1994 and 1997) and a two-time European all-around champion. He is also an 11-time world medalist. Apart from Ivan Ivankov who is working in the United States now, the 2019 honorees are Shawn Johnson of the United States, Russia’s Maria Filatova, and China’s Li XiaoPeng.

Other Belarusian gymnasts inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame are Olga Korbut, Nellie Kim, Svetlana Boginskaya, and Vitaly Scherbo.
