MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Anastasiya Arol became a silver medalist of the 2026 European Senior Modern Pentathlon Championships in Istanbul, Türkiye, BelTA has learned.
Eighteen of the strongest athletes from nine countries competed for the continental title in the final. After three events (fencing, obstacle course and swimming), Anastasiya Arol held the highest point total, leading İlke Özyüksel by two points. The two athletes reached the final shooting range together; the Turkish athlete completed her shooting faster and held her advantage on the last lap of the laser-run course.
The Belarusian finished second, five seconds behind, while Hungarian Blanka Guzi rounded out the podium. Earlier in her career, Anastasiya Arol (under her maiden name Malashenoka) was a medalist at World Cup stages and a world and European junior champion in relay events.
A total of three Belarusian athletes took part in the women’s final. Mariya Gnedtchik finished ninth, while Viyaleta Hureyeva placed 14th. The continental event in Istanbul is the first in five years in which Belarusian pentathletes are competing under the national flag.
