Belarusian Angelina Vasilevskaya wins Berliner Perle top prizeMINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Young Belarusian Angelina Vasilevkaya has won the top prize of the Euro Pop Contest Berliner Perle, BelTA learned from the StudioPlay, a Minsk-based vocal studio the young singer attends.

It is the first time that a Belarusian has won Berliner Perle over 15 years of its history. This year, there were 41 finalists coming from 15 countries: Malta, Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Philippines, Germany, the United Kingdom, Romania, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Sweden.

The organizer of the Pop Contest Berliner Perle was the official partner of MTV Berlin in the countries of the CIS and Baltic region. The contest was held in three rounds: the casting, the national qualification and the international final. Angelina Vasilevskaya won the qualifying round in Minsk to become a representative of Belarus at the final round in Berlin. The finalists were divided into three age categories: 10 to13, 14 to 17 and 18 to 24 years. The young Belarusian performed two songs and became the leader of the two days of the contest. Angelina won the grand prix of the contest in the age category of 14 to 17 years and was awarded a medal, a cup and a prize.

The independent international jury consisted of music experts, producers and composers from different countries: France, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

Angelina Vasilevskaya is a student of Gymnasium No. 11 of Minsk. She is a holder of a scholarship of the special fund for the support of the talented youth of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Angelina won numerous national and international contests, like Young Talents of Belarus in 2015. She also was a finalist of the national selection final for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 and won the Grand Prix of the national contest Art Talent in 2016.
