Belarus wins Ventspils Christmas Cup 2015
MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian women’s curling team of Alina Pavlyuchik, Darya Bogatova, Arina Sverzhinskaya, and Margarita Dezhuk celebrated a victory at the international tournament Ventspils Christmas Cup 2015 in Latvia, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry of Belarus.The Belarusians took two wins in the qualifying round. At the opener Belarus routed Latvia’s Perles 12-4. Then the Belarusians saw off Latvia’s Rudzisu CC 8-3. Belarus played in a 5-5 draw with Scotland in the semifinal and had enough points to reach the final.
In the deciding match Belarus bear the Team of Legends 6-3. The Team of Legends comprised players of Belarus and Latvia.
Partaking in Ventspils Christmas Cup 2015 were 16 teams from Latvia, Belarus and Scotland.
Belarus will next play in Tallinn in January ahead of the European Curling Championships in May 2016.
