Belarus wins 7 medals at International Autumn Tournament in Informatics

MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – Belarusian school students took seven medals at the International Autumn Tournament in Informatics, BelTA learned from Aleksei Borunov, a competitive programming coach of the Mozyr Club of Young Firefighters.

The online tournament was hosted by Bulgaria’s Shumen on 19-22 November. It brought together participants from 16 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Iran, Israel, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Syria, and Ukraine.

The participants competed in two age groups – junior (born in 2005 and later) and senior. Every country could be represented in each age group by an official team of four members. The event also featured an unofficial competition for extra participants.

The tournament consisted of two stages. Belarus set up seven sites for the contest: in Minsk, Vitebsk, Brest, Mogilev, Ivye, and Bobruisk. According to the rules of the international tournament, all the sites must have ensured proctoring – videorecording of the contestants and screens of their computers. The participants were required to develop three software programs in line with the given task and send them to a testing program for evaluation.

Participants of the official Belarusian teams won medals. Students of the Mozyr Club of Young Firefighters Stanislav Polyn and Stanislav Damasevich (senior age group) showed the best results.
