Belarus wins 25 medals at Zhautykov Olympiad in Kazakhstan

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – Belarusian school students took 25 medals at the 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad, competitive programming coach, teacher of the Mozyr Club of Young Firefighters Aleksei Borunov told BelTA.

The organizers of the 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad on Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science have announced the results. Stanislau Damasevich from the Mozyr Club of Young Firefighters won a gold medal and showed the best result among participants from Belarus.

Andrei Kastsiany from Gomel Gymnasium №51 and Dzianis Lahunou from the BSU Lyceum also took gold medals.

The 17th International Zhautykov Olympiad was running online on 8-13 January, hosted from Almaty (Kazakhstan). The competitions brought together 295 school students from 18 countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

At each of the two stages of the olympiad, the contestants had five hours to develop three software programs in line with the given task and send them to a testing system. They could get up to 100 points depending on the performance of their programs. The event used e-proctoring – videorecording of the contestants and screens of their computers. The organizers monitored the live streams from Almaty. Belarus set up seven sites for the contest: in Brest, Gomel, Vitebsk, Minsk, and Mozyr.
