Belarus win two medals at 2026 Winter Paralympics in Italy

MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes have concluded their performances at the XIV Winter Paralympic Games in Italy with two medals, BelTA has learned.

Four Belarusian skiers competed at the event, taking part in four program disciplines. Both medals for the Belarusian team were brought by Raman Svirydzenka, who claimed gold in the sprint and silver in the 10km interval start classic race among standing athletes with limb impairments. The 21-year-old athlete also placed 14th in the 20km Interval Start Free Standing.

In the mixed relay, our skiers finished ninth. The results of the Belarusians’ performances in individual disciplines are as follows:

Darya Fedzkovich (LW2-LW9): sprint – 14th place, 10km – 10th place, 20km – 12th place;

Lidziya Loban (LW10-LW12): sprint – 7th place, 10km – 11th place, 20km – 8th place;

Valiantsina Biryla (LW10-LW12): sprint – 12th place, 10km – 14th place, 20km – 13th place.

A total of more than 600 athletes from 55 countries took part in the XIV Winter Paralympic Games, competing in 79 medal events across six sports. The best result in the medal standings was achieved by representatives of China. The Paralympics closing ceremony in Cortina d'Ampezzo is due on 15 March at 22:30 Minsk time.
