Belarus-Ukraine regional forum to feature academic panel discussions

GOMEL, 18 October (BelTA) – Academic panel discussions featuring representatives of higher education institutions of the two countries will take place as part of the 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine which is due in Gomel on 25-26 October, head of the main education department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Sergei Poroshin told the media on 18 October, BelTA has learned.

Scientists, specialists and workers of the higher education institutions of Belarus and Ukraine will discuss cooperation, expansion of partner relations and share the best working practices. It is expected that taking part in the panel discussions “Belarus and Ukraine: Inter-University Scientific Integration” and “Belarus-Ukraine Cooperation in Education and Youth Policy” will be more than 100 university representatives of the two countries.

The events will be held in two venues: Francysk Skaryna Gomel State University and Sukhoi Gomel State Technical University.

“The events are expected to result in agreements on cooperation in education, science, youth affairs and exchange of students, scholars, and professionals between the universities of the two countries. The ministries of the two countries are set to sign a program on cooperation in education,” Sergei Poroshin said.

In addition, participants of the panel discussions will visit exhibitions of scientific developments, industrial products. “Our colleagues from Ukraine will get acquainted with the Belarusian historical and cultural heritage, achievements in science and economy, innovations, creative potential,” Sergei Poroshin added.
