MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) – Belarusian players secured two medals in the rapid event at the 2026 World Draughts-64 Championship in Moscow Oblast, BelTA has learned.
International Grandmaster Artsiom Tsikhanau of Belarus captured the gold medal in the men’s rapid program, while Belarus’ own Yauheniya Shved claimed bronze in the women’s event. The day before, Ihar Mikhalchenka stormed to victory in the blitz.
The classic program competitions will run from 6 to 12 September at the World Championship in Khimki. The global tournament brings together over 80 players from 28 nations, with a ten-person delegation representing Belarus.
