Belarus to plant two fruit gardens named after Emomali Rahmon

HISOR, 16 May (BelTA) - Two fruit gardens named after Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon will be planted in Brest Oblast and Gomel Oblast. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko gave a corresponding instruction during his official visit to Tajikistan, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that he discussed this topic with Emomali Ramon on the way to the assembly plant of Belarusian farm machines in Hisor. “In Tajikistan they too have severe frosts in winter but local gardens survive. Can we not cultivate the varieties grown in Tajikistan in Gomel Oblast and Brest Oblast? I get a feeling that these varieties will grow well in Belarus,” the president said.

He gave instructions to lay gardens in each of the abovementioned regions. “The project is worth a try. The climate is changing. We have already been growing watermelons in central Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

Emomali Rahmon instructed to coordinate the work with Belarusian specialists and promised assistance, including in allocating the necessary number of young plants.

According to Belarus’ Ambassador to Tajikistan Oleg Ivanov, a cherry garden of Belarus-Tajikistan friendship will be planted in Tajikistan. The site has already been chosen, young plants ordered.
