Belarus to partake in twelve international tourism expos in 2016

MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Plans have been made to showcase Belarus’ national stand at twelve international tourism expos to be held abroad in 2016, BelTA learned from Acting Director of the National Tourism Agency Grigory Pomerantsev.

The preliminary plan for 2016 includes such expos as FITUR in Spain, IMTM in Israel, Tour Salon in Poland, ITB Berlin in Germany, Intourmarket, MITT and the Saint Petersburg Tourism Forum in Russia, the Azerbaijan International Travel and Tourism Fair, Agrotravel in Poland, China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market, KITF in Kazakhstan, and World Travel Market in the United Kingdom.

The format of the national stand will be discussed with co-exhibitors prior to each of the expos. “Last year, the slogan of Belarus’ national stand in London was “Terra Incognita in the heart of Europe”. It made sense to use that slogan in London, but it would be illogical to do the same, for example, in Russia. The decision on the country’s tourism brand should be made not by the National Tourism Agency or some government officials. The ideas on the brand should be discussed by all parties concerned,” he added.

There are also plans to present Belarus’ tourism potential in Lithuania, Turkey, Latvia, Estonia, Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland.

Representatives of Belarus’ hospitality sector, health resorts, national parks, travel companies and other stakeholders are invited to submit applications to the National Tourism Agency and take part in the expos.
