Belarus to launch web portal on ecotourism in protected areas

DOMZHERITSY, 23 July (BelTA) – Belarus is set to launch a web portal on tourism in protected nature areas, Ruzhena Novitskaya, head of the information, ideological work and digitalization department of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate, told journalists during a press tour to the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, BelTA has learned.

Specialists spent two years creating the website. It will feature an interactive map with detailed descriptions of locations. The project is planned to launch in the near future. “The domain name ecotourism.by has already been registered,” Ruzhena Novitskaya said.

It will showcase the tourism infrastructure, services, and routes of the national parks, the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, and forestry enterprises. There are also plans to include 3D tours of museums, hotels, dining options, eco-trails, and more.

“Our goal was to provide the most comprehensive information about places where people can enjoy nature,” Ruzhena Novitskaya added.

The portal features quick access to booking systems. In the future, integration with other information resources is being considered, as well as expanding the portal to include other tourism sites, including farmsteads.

The project was commissioned by the BelExpo state enterprise, which recently merged with the TsentrKurort tour operator. Its tasks include developing domestic tourism and promoting outdoor recreation.

“As from 1 August, we plan to launch the interactive guidebook map into commercial operation for testing, so that people can get familiar with it. During this period, the portal will continue to be updated based on user feedback,” Inga Malashkevich, head of the tourism support department at BelExpo, said.
