Belarus to host open aerial skiing water-ramp championships

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships will take place at the sport center Freestyle on 19-20 September, BelTA informs.

Partaking in the competitions will be more than 40 athletes from Belarus, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The entry list will include Belarus’ leading aerial skiers such as world championship medalist Maxim Gustik, World Cup medalists Denis Osipov and Anna Guskova, junior world champion and World Cup winner Alexandra Romanovskaya.

According to head coach of the Belarusian national team Nikolai Kozeko, the lineup of the national team is currently at its most optimal format.

Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships will take place at the sport center Freestyle“The championship will make one of the preparing stages ahead of the new season. Belarusians will compete for the podium places and they have serious rivals. It is not clear if Olympic champion Anton Kushnir will take part in the competitions as he is still down with a cold,” said Nikolai Kozeko.

First Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister Alexander Gagiyev told media that the sport center Freestyle is ready to host the championship. “All imperfections revealed during the use of its ski-ramps have been removed. The swimming pool is unique for Belarus in its construction. It is equipped with an underwater sound system and observation windows,” he added.

According to the First Deputy Sport and Tourism Minister, the sport center Freestyle has been visited by more than 50,000 people since its opening in April 2015.

Qualifications, the final and the super final of the Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships will be held on 20 September. The event will be broadcast live on the Belarus 5 TV channel.Belarus’ Open Aerial Skiing Water-Ramp Championships will take place at the sport center Freestyle
