Belarus to field 38-strong team for European Athletics Championships in Berlin

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus will field a 38-strong team for the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Athletics Federation.

World champion hammer thrower, prizewinner of two Olympics Ivan Tikhon, who recently turned 42, will be the most experienced athlete on the Belarusian team will be the. Ivan Tikhon won silver medal at the last European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016. Medal hopefuls include Alina Talay, Elvira Herman (100m hurdles), Krystsina Tsimanouskaya (100m, 200m), Volha Mazuronak (marathon), Karina Taranda, Maksim Nedasekau (high jump), Tatsiana Khaladovich (javelin) and other Belarusian athletes.

The 24th edition of the European Athletics Championships will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on 6-12 August. The championships will feature 48 medal events. Taking part in the event will be over 1600 athletes from 50 countries of Europe.
