Belarus to expand its network of Confucius Institutes

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – Belarus will expand its network of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms at the regional level, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Nikolai Snopkov said at a meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental committee for cooperation on 17 August, BelTA has learned.

“The Belarusian side is ready to further expand the network of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms at the regional level to promote understanding and knowledge of China in the regions,” Nikolai Snopkov said.

Today in Belarus there are three Confucius Institutes and seven Confucius Classrooms. A university in Beijing has a Belarusian language classroom.

The Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration added that the Education Ministries of the two countries are almost ready to establish the Silk Road Academy, a center of knowledge about China, in Belarus.
