Belarus to demonstrate 40 paintings by artists from 25 countries during Expo 2017 in Astana

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – During the international event Expo 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan Belarus will demonstrate a unique exhibition of 40 pictures created by artists from 25 countries, BelTA learned from Yevgeny Lazarev, Head of the Exhibitions and Congresses Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press conference on 29 May.

According to the source, Belarus will organize an art exhibition From Lisbon to Vladivostok via Minsk, Moscow, and Astana in its own pavilion in addition to highlighting accomplishments of the production sector in the area of energy saving projects as well as investment projects. The exhibition will feature works of prominent artists from countries located along the Silk Road Economic Belt. Those are about 40 pictures painted by artists from 25 countries. The exhibition is supposed to symbolize understanding via art and across borders. “We expect interest in our pavilion to be stronger thanks to the unique exhibition among other reasons,” noted the representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As far as cultural aspects of Expo 2017 are concerned, Belarusian folk music bands, jazz music bands, and chamber music bands will participate in the expo for three months.

According to Yevgeny Lazarev, the Belarusian side intends to use participation in Expo 2017 to its full potential in order to advance national interests across the board. “This is why we intend to arrange our exposition like that. The pavilion will be rather universal. It will present the main directions of the country’s development — education, culture, science, the political vector,” said the official.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also pointed out that Belarus started taking part in the Expo on a systemic basis relatively a short time ago. “It is universally acknowledged that the Expo is the third most popular event after the Olympics and the world football championship. The expo will give us an excellent opportunity to present ourselves before the world, to present what we have now and what we intend to achieve in the future,” remarked Yevgeny Lazarev.

The international event Expo 2017 will take place in Kazakhstan on 10 June – 10 September under the theme Future Energy. From 2.5 million to 5 million people are expected to attend the event. The participants will include 112 countries, eight international organizations, and over 70 state and private companies.
