Belarus’ Suravets claims high jump silver at Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Belarusian athlete Hanna Suravets has won the first medal for Belarus at 2025 Summer Deaflympics in Tokyo, Japan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.

The athlete won the silver medal in the high jump. She cleared 1.76m and set a new national record. The gold went to Kazakhstan’s Faina Meirmanova who set a new Deaflympics record of 1.79m.

The Deaflympics are the largest international sports competition for athletes with hearing impairments. Belarus is represented by 24 athletes in three sports: athletics, swimming and wrestling. A total of 212 medal sets in 21 sports will be up for grabs in Tokyo. The games have brought together about 3,000 participants from more than 70 countries.
