MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Alina Sinevich won the 2026 Europe Triathlon Multisport Championships taking place in Spain, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian athlete became the strongest on the continent among the U23 competitors in aquathlon, a sport combining running and swimming. The participants covered a 1,000-meter swimming distance in Lake Banyoles, followed by a 5-kilometer run. In the women’s U23 category, Alina Sinevich finished in 34 minutes 28 seconds, beating Serbia’s Iva Pavlovic, who took second place, by more than half a minute.
In the elite women’s race, the leader of the Belarusian national team, Anna Maksimova, finished fifth, while Slovenia’s Tjaša Vrtačič claimed the European title. In the men’s event, Spaniards swept the entire podium, with Jonay Álvarez taking the win. Belarusian Nikita Kotenev finished fifth, just 11 seconds behind the bronze medalist. Among juniors under 20, Belarusian Makar Veretennikov also placed fifth.
