Belarus-Russia Union MPs to attend Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk eventsMOSCOW, 10 July (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia will attend events of the 26th international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia told BelTA.

Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is scheduled for 13-17 July. According to the source, the festival makes a significant contribution to efforts to bring the people of Belarus and Russia closer to each other. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia supports all the initiatives meant to foster Belarus-Russia integration, including the advancement of the dialogue of Slavonic cultures. Annual meetings of artists and their grateful spectators in Vitebsk symbolize the brotherly friendship of the Belarusians and the Russians that has evolved over centuries.

The Belarus-Russia Union State budget contributes to financing the festival and its organization. The Union State Day has been held as part of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk since 2003. Since then Union State MPs have taken part in the festival in the capacity of organizers and guests. Events organized and held in association with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia and the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are part of the forum’s program.

The Union State parliament has established two special prizes for participants of the international pop song contest and the international children music contest, which are held as part of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. This year the awards will be bestowed upon the best performers and singers from Belarus and Russia.

The parliamentarians will visit the opening ceremony and the closing ceremony, concerts by pop song performers and children music performers. The MPs will take part in the press conference dedicated to the opening of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk and in other Union State events.

Following the established tradition, representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia will visit orphanages in Vitebsk Oblast. This year the MPs will be made familiar with housing and leisure conditions at the orphanages and will meet with the management and foster children at these institutions.

Apart from that, the MPs will hold a number of meetings with representatives of the administration of Vitebsk districts. They will visit a number of educational and industrial enterprises in the city and will be made familiar with the Vitebsk District tourism information center.
