Belarus-Russia Festival of Regional TV Companies opens in Minsk

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The first Festival of Regional TV Companies of Belarus and Russia “The Image of Time” opened in Minsk on 6 June, BelTA learned from the Information Ministry.

Events will be held on 6-8 June. The participants are set to attend the third Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, hold creative TV workshops, make reports “from the field”, and visit the National State TV and Radio Company and the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War.

A contest of regional projects of Belarus and Russia was held in the run-up to the festival. The jury assessed more than fifty projects, all of different genres and thematic focus. Winners and laureates of the contest will be announced in a ceremony at the Institute of Journalism of the Belarusian State University.

Attending the festival will be representatives of 27 broadcasters from 16 regions of Russia and Belarus: Gomel, Mogilev, Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Kostroma, Bryansk, Vladimir and Irkutsk Oblast, the Chechen Republic, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, the cities of Sochi and St. Petersburg.

The festival has been organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry with the support of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, the Permanent Committee of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Ministry of Mass Communications of Russia, the National State TV and Radio Company of Belarus, STV channel, the Institute of Journalism of the Belarusian State University.

The forum is aimed at strengthening the Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the field of information, drawing attention to the regional TV companies of Belarus and Russia to the economic and socio-humanitarian cooperation between the two states, expanding professional creative contacts, supporting initiatives aimed at the formation of patriotic and spiritual and moral values, promoting educational and cultural functions of the regional television.
