Belarus-Russia armored vehicles race to visit six Belarusian cities in June

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Participants of the Belarus-Russia Union State’s armored vehicles race Road of Courage will drop in six Belarusian cities and towns, BelTA learned from representatives of the Russian interregional public organization Military-Technical Society.

The armored vehicles race Road of Courage will begin at Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow on 17 June. In Russia the racers will travel via Odintsovo, Golitsyno, Mozhaisk, Vyazma, and Smolensk. On 19 June participants of the patriotic campaign will stop for one hour in Belarusian Orsha to arrive in Borisov in the evening. After that, the armored vehicles race will visit Minsk, Baranovichi, and Kobrin. The patriotic campaign will culminate in commemorative events in Brest on the night of 21-22 June. The motorcade would have travelled for over 2,300km by then.

The armored vehicles race Road of Courage will be available for live observation to about six million people. Even more people will be able to follow it on television and in the World Wide Web.

According to Alexei Migalin, president of the public organization Military-Technical Society, it is a remarkable campaign because it brings together private individuals, who own demilitarized vehicles, as well as volunteers, war veterans, and simply indifferent Belarusians and Russians. “We have a common history, common values, which rest on unshakeable ideas. It is extremely important to get as many people as possible to join the Road of Courage campaign. The future perception of the Great Patriotic War in Russia and the entirety of the Commonwealth of Independent States depends on social support for such actions,” noted Alexei Migalin. The organizers are convinced that the armored vehicles race will become a good tradition for residents of Belarus and Russia.

The armored vehicles race Road of Courage has been organized by the public organization Military-Technical Society. The organizers set out to pay a tribute of respect to the heroes, who fell during the Great Patriotic War fighting for their motherland. The campaign is also expected to bolster cultural ties.
