Belarus president harvests watermelons after official events

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – After official events in the Palace of Independence Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko went to the household plot on 29 August. Aleksandr Lukashenko and a team traditionally gather in crops over there in August, BelTA has learned.

The head of state and the team worked to gather in watermelons on 29 August. The presidential field has been used to grow melons and gourds for several years. Aleksandr Lukashenko has noted more than once that unconventional warm-weather crops can be grown in Belarus’ climate.

However, this year has not been a good one for growing melons and gourds – summer was not sunny. The team harvested as much as 20 tonnes of watermelons.
