MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Poland have plans to hold joint events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian and Polish artist Ferdynand Ruszczyc to be marked in 2020. Belarusian Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik met with Polish Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage Pawel Lewandowski to discuss relevant ideas and proposals, BelTA has learned.

Vasily Chernik noted that Belarus is ready for fruitful cooperation with Poland’s Ferdynand Ruszczyc Foundation. He noted that plans have been made to renovate the artist’s estate in Volozhin District and the family cemetery by 2020. The renovated estate will have an educational center, exhibition halls, and an art cafe. Besides, an album of Ferdynand Ruszczyc’s works will be published. The anniversary deserves to be celebrated at the level of UNESCO, and Belarus invites Poland to jointly promote this initiative.

Vasily Chernik added that Belarusian and Polish cultural institutions maintain fuitful cooperation. He cited as an example the exhibitions prepared jointly with the National Art Museum of Belarus. He also praised the activities of the Belarusian culture center in Poland.
