Belarus photo exhibition opens in Haifa

MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) – The international photo exhibition titled as We are From Belarus has been opened in the Castra culture center in Haifa to mark the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Israel diplomatic relations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Israel Vladimir Skvortsov told BelTA.

The exhibition has been organized by Belarusian-born Boris Belenky and Lev Tarnopolsky, members of the Tzafon photo club, under the aegis of the Israeli Ministry of Immigrant Absorption with the support of the Belarusian Embassy and Haifa City Hall.

The exhibition features 140 works by 75 Belarusian nationals and also natives of Belarus residing in Israel, the UK and Russia.

Most photographs are dedicated to Belarusian nature and history, monuments, traditions and modern life of Belarusians.

“We are sincerely grateful to the Belarusian natives residing in Israel for keeping contact with their homeland and for their contribution to Belarus-Israel cooperation. It is the second exposition in Haifa that has been arranged by our countrymen, photographers living in this city. They make photographs, arrange exhibitions and also engage more participants maintaining close ties with their Belarusian colleagues and Belarusian natives from all over the world,” Vladimir Skvortsov said.

“I believe that such cultural events develop and enrich our bilateral communication,” the Ambassador emphasized. “I hope that this exhibition will travel to Belarus, like the first one, and the project will become a good tradition that will show the world of photography to a bigger audience.”

Vladimir Skvortsov drew attention to the fact that the Haifa exhibition continues a series of events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Belarus-Israel diplomatic relations. The cultural program of the anniversary year began in January with an Israel tour by the Belarusian opera singers and with a series of Vladimir Mulyavin tribute concerts. The program is going to be very interesting and varied.
