MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - The National Library of Belarus has launched a new internet project ahead of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from the library.

“Our new internet project is the website “Underground and Partisan Press of Belarus”. The resource is a regularly  updated electronic library of documents issued by underground and partisan units. The documents are provided by the National Library of Belarus, the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War and the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus.

The website features about 100 names of newspapers with more than 1,000 issues, about 150 leaflets and manuscript materials. The documents are of great interest to researchers. They are chronicles of the history of the partisan movement in Belarus, the life of the country in the occupied territory. Readers will have a chance to get familiar with the indisputable evidence of history. They will also be able to contribute electronic copies of the documents from their personal archives.

The virtual project “Underground and Partisan Press of Belarus” is designed to recreate the history of the feat of the nation and preserve the memory about it and to attract a wide readership.
