Belarus’ National Art Museum to host joint Belarusian-Spanish exhibition

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – A joint exhibition by Spanish artist Duilio De Gennaro and Belarusian sculptor Sergei Portenkov will open at the National Art Museum of Belarus on 14 April, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in France, the organizer of the project.

The exhibition will showcase over 30 paintings and sculptures.

Duilio De Gennaro continues the traditions of Picasso, Modigliani, and Bacon and creates cubist and figurative works. Sergei Portenkov’s sculptures from metal parts and mechanisms depict fantastic and futuristic images. In autumn 2015, the sculptor’s works were displayed at the annual art fair Art en Capital in Paris for the first time. One of his sculptures was honored with a prestigious award from the Baron Taylor Association.

The exhibition will be running in Minsk from 15 April till 16 May 2016.

The exhibition continues a series of Belarusian-Spanish cultural events that started with an exhibition of works by Goya and Picasso at the National Art Museum in December 2015. The events are organized on the initiative of the Belarusian Embassy. A joint exhibition of Orthodox icons from the holdings of the National Art Museum of Belarus and works by El Greco is scheduled to open in Toledo, Spain in autumn 2016.
