MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Uladzislava Lavar became a medalist at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships, BelTA has learned.
Competing in the 63kg category, the Belarusian athlete lifted 78kg in the snatch and made a successful 109kg attempt in the clean and jerk, which earned her a small bronze medal in the discipline. With a total of 187kg, Uladzislava finished fifth overall out of 15 competitors. Turkiye’s Zehranur Aslan captured the world title with a combined lift of 198kg.
Cali, Colombia, is hosting the 2026 World Youth Weightlifting Championships. Previously, Belarusian Viktar Shchohaleu placed fifth overall in the 65kg division. On 12 July, Belarus’ Semion Makarau (+94kg) and Polina Novikova (+77kg) will battle for tournament medals.
