Belarus-Korea sci-tech forum due in Minsk in October

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – The 6th edition of the Belarus-Korea forum Science. Innovations. Manufacturing is set to take place in Minsk in October, BelTA learned from the website of the State Science and Technology Committee.

The forum is designed to scale up bilateral cooperation in science and innovations, forge new business contacts, and find new areas and forms of cooperation contributing to innovative development in both countries. Top on the agenda will be presentation of innovative facilities, research centers, innovative and investment projects of the two countries, promotion of technology and science-intensive products of various industries on the external market.

The forum is organized by the State Science and Technology Committee, the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning of the Republic of Korea, and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The State Science and Technology Committee hosted a session of the Belarusian part of the Belarus-Korea working group on science and technology and a meeting to discuss exports of Belarusian goods and services to the Republic of Korea. The parties finalized the agenda of the 6th edition of the Science. Innovations. Manufacturing forum and discussed preparations for the session of the Belarus-Korea joint committee.

During the meeting the parties considered in detail the state and prospects of the trade and economic relations with the Republic of Korea. The participants of the session discussed key areas of the bilateral cooperation and ways to boost the export of goods and services to the Republic of Korea. In 2018 Belarus shipped new commodity items to this country, including harvesting machines, spherical roller bearings, tricycles, kick scooters, pedal cars and a broad range of other products for kids, as well as bands and glass fiber yarn.

Taking part in the session were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Dapkiunas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the Republic of Korea Andrei Popkov, representatives of Belneftekhim, the Hi-Tech Park administration, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belpharmprom Holding Company, and the Veterinary and Food Control Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.

The State Science and Technology Committee Chairman Alexander Shumilin also co-chairs the Belarus-Korea working group on science and technology. In line with Council of Ministers’ Resolution No. 1235 as of 23 December 2014, the State Science and Technology Committee head is in charge of expanding and diversifying export of goods and services to the Republic of Korea.
