MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Ilya Ivashka has advanced to the semifinals of the ATP Challenger tournament in Bangalore, India, BelTA has learned.
In today’s quarterfinal, the Belarusian defeated Mexico’s Alex Hernandez in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. In the semifinal, Ilya Ivashka will face British player Hamish Stewart. Earlier, in the round of 32, the Belarusian beat India’s Prajwal Dev, 6-3, 6-2, and in the second round he defeated another Indian player, Manish Sureshkumar, 6-1, 6-1.
At the tournament in Kutaisi, Georgia, Belarusian tennis player Daniil Ostapenkov won his quarterfinal match against Georgian player Saba Purtseladze, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3). In his opening match, Daniil Ostapenkov defeated another Georgian, Nika Bidzinashvili, 6-4, 6-2; in the round of 16 he beat Greece’s Evangelos Kypriotis, 6-2, 6-1. In the semifinal he will face Sweden’s Kevin Edengren.
The tournament in India will conclude on 23 May, and the event in Georgia one day later.
