Belarus’ experience in achieving SDGs to be in spotlight of conference in Minsk

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – A conference on sustainable development “Strategy and partnership to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” will be hosted by the Johannes Rau International Education Center in Minsk on 6-7 June, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The event will be attended by more than 250 participants - representatives of the ministries and departments, legislative and representative authorities, regional sustainable development initiatives, NGOs, businesses, international organizations and also experts from Germany and Ukraine. The participants will review the status of implementation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Social and Economic Development (NSSD) of Belarus for the period till 2030 and will draw up proposals for the draft national sustainable development strategy up to 2035. The conference participants will also talk over the key priorities in achieving the SDGs in Belarus which were developed by the UN Advisory and Expert MAPS-mission.

The program of the event includes workshops to discuss the successful experience in achieving the SDGs in Belarus and Germany. The workshops will focus on thematic areas: public participation and partnership in the context of sustainable development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and effectiveness of strategies for sustainable development, the transition to green principles, climate protection for inclusive and sustainable growth, digital transformation and social innovation, gender equal society.

The participants will offer recommendations and suggestions that could make the basis of strategic documents (legislation, action plans).

The conference will be available online in social networks: in the J. Rau center groups and the Support Program for Belarus of the Federal Government Of Germany.
