Belarus claims medals at IJF Lima Pan-American Open 2026

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) - Belarusian athletes have won two bronze medals at the IJF Lima Pan-American Open 2026 in Peru, BelTA has learned.

Artsiom Kolasau took third place in the men’s -60 kg category. At the start of the tournament, the Belarusian defeated Peru’s Arnold Prado and Brazil’s Diego Ismael, but lost to Argentina’s Galo Villavicencio in the semifinal. In the bronze medal match, Artsiom Kolasau beat France’s Louis Pestelard.

Yana Makretskaya also claimed bronze in the women’s -63 kg category. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Argentina’s Agustina De Lucia, then lost to Canada’s Catherine Toshkov. In the third-place bout, Yana Makretskaya overcame South Korea’s Shin Chaewon.

A total of six athletes represented Belarus in Lima. Ruslan Halavachou (-73 kg), Yahor Varapayeu (-100 kg), and Darya Kantsavaya (-78 kg) lost their bronze medal matches, while Hleb Khatkouski (-81 kg) was eliminated in the round of 16. The IJF Lima Pan-American Open 2026 brought together 190 judokas from 36 countries.
