MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has developed unique bear viewing tours, BelTA learned from the website of the reserve.

This animal is listed on the Red Book of Endangered Species. It is the most dangerous and formidable predator of our forests. It lives in remote and impassable places, it is extremely cautious, has a good ear and an extraordinary sense of smell. About a third of Belarus’ population of brown bears - about 70 individuals - lives on the territory of the reserve. Visitors to the reserve will have a unique opportunity to experience the thrill of a lifetime watching wild bears in their natural habitat. Tourists will be offered thematic excursions and tours, specially equipped towers and shelters, experienced guides, the reserve said.

Although brown bears are predators, they mostly eat vegetable food, including berries, fruit, nuts, tubers, stems of herbs. When wild berries are not available in sufficient amounts, the animal visits oat fields.

The Bear’s Corner two-day tour will be available until the end of August. The excursion itself starts at 17.30 and can last until midnight, depending on when a bear shows up. The tour will cost from Br122 for one person and from Br132 for two. The price includes accommodation and meals. You can sign up for the tour by calling: 8 (02132) 3-77-13, 8 (02132) 3-77-18 and 8 (033) 378-03-23.
