MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) - Belarus beat France in the final game of the Euro Hockey Challenge 4-1, BelTA has learned.

Belarus lost the first match against France in Bordeaux 1-3, held as part of the preparations for the world’s sport forum.

In the second game Dave Lewis’ men opened the scoring in the 10^th minute through Yevgeny Kovyrshin. Alexander Pavlovich and Mikhail Stefanovich extended Belarus’ lead in the second period. Charles Linglet scored a fourth in the 60^th minute of the game after France capitalized on a penalty shot.

The Belarusian national team is now traveling to Paris to open the 2017 IIHF World Championhsip against Finland on 5 May in Group B. Dave Lewis’ men will also play against the Czech Republic on 6 May, Canada on 8 May, Switzerland on 10 May, France on 12 May, Slovenia on 13 May and Norway on 16 May. Group A teams (Sweden, Russia, the United States, Germany, Latvia, Denmark, Slovakia, Italy) will play in Cologne.

Four best teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinal.
