MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) - Audio guides in the German, Spanish, and French languages will be made available at the National Art Museum of Belarus, Director General of the museum Vladimir Prokoptsov said during an online conference hosted by BelTA on 5 May.
Currently the museum offers audio guides in Russian, Belarusian and English. Some half a year ago the museum unveiled an audio tour in Chinese. According to Vladimir Prokoptsov, the decision was taken due to many Chinese receiving education in Belarus. “The majority of them do not speak Russian, and few know English. It is a difficult task. Audio guides appear on a step-by-step basis,” said Vladimir Prokoptsov.
The museum promotes this practice onto its commercial exhibitions. For example, audio guides were available at Leon Bakst’s Time and Art expo, Goya…Picasso exhibition, the exposition of the State Tretyakov Gallery.
The focus is on the English language since the majority of tourists know it. Information under the paintings in the museum is available in three languages: Belarusian, Russian and English. “In many museums abroad information is provided in one language only and it is inconvenient. We do it in three languages for the tourists’ comfort,” Vladimir Prokoptsov added.
