Belarus’ Aleksei Vishnevsky finishes 7th in Silk Way Rally Stage 6MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – Belarusian truck racer Aleksei Vishnevsky crossed the finishing line of the sixth leg of the 2017 Silk Way Rally in 7th position, BelTA learned from the Belarusian team.

Aleksei Vishnevsky, known not only as a MAZ racer but also as a three-time national drifting champion, cleared the stage in 3h50m, some 11 minutes off the stage winner Russian Kamaz racer Eduard Nikolaev. After the sixth leg of the rally, Aleksei Vishnevsky sits in 11 place overall.

Sergei Vyazovich, the leader of the MAZ-SPORTavto team, encountered a wiring problem and finished the stage in 10th position clocking 4h34m. Sergei Vyazovich is now 7th overall.

Alexander Vasilevsky’s truck faced serious problems as it got stuck in salt marsh mud. As a result, the racer was 17th to cross the finishing line. He now rounds out the top ten overall.

The mountainous seventh stage will take the trucks to the border with China.

This year’s Silk Way Rally is running through Russia, Kazakhstan and China to wrap up at Xi'an on 22 July. The racers will travel a total of 9,599km, with special sections making up 4,094km.
