Azarenka up to 27th, Sabalenka remains 11th in WTA rankings

MINSK, 31 August (BelTA) – Victoria Azarenka of Belarus rose to the 27th place in the WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

Last week the former world number one was ranked 59th. After winning the Premier tournament in New York she soared 32 positions with the total of 1832 points. Arina Sabalenka remained 11th with 3,615 points. Aliaksandra Sasnovich goes 106th with 638 points, Olga Govortsova is 130th with 520 points.

WTA Top Ten:

1. Ashleigh Barty (Australia) – 8,717 points
2. Simona Halep (Romania) – 6,356
3. Carolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) – 5,205
4. Sofia Kenin (United States) – 4,590
5. Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – 4,580 
6. Bianca Andreescu (Canada) – 4,555
7. Kiki Bertens (Netherlands) – 4,335
8. Serena Williams (United States) – 4,080
9. Naomi Osaka (Japan) – 4,020
10. Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) – 4,010.

In the ATP rankings Belarus’ Egor Gerasimov goes 72nd with 744 points, Ilya Ivashka is 139th with 396 points.

On 31 August the world’s best tennis players will start their competition at the US Open in New York. The tournament will finish on 13 September.
