Athletes from nine countries to compete for Marina Lobach Trophy

MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Athletes from nine countries will take part in the Rhythmic Gymnastics International Tournament for Marina Lobach Prizes in Minsk on 19-20 October. The competitions will be held at the Palace of Rhythmic Gymnastics, BelTA learned from the press service of the Presidential Sport Club.

First held in 2002, the competitions have occupied an important place in the international calendar of sport events in Belarus. 

Armenia will debut this year. Representatives of Turkey and Finland will return after a long hiatus.

Young athletes will compete in 14 medal events in two age categories (2004-2006 and 2007-2008).

Among the stars of Belarusian rhythmic gymnastics who competed at the competitions are Anastasia Ivankova, Valeria Kurilskaya, Aliaksandra Narkevich, Anna Ryabtseva, Melitina Staniouta, Natalia Leshchik, Maria Kadobina, Arina Sharapa, Anastasiia Salos, Alina Harnasko, Katsiaryna Halkina and many others.

In 2018, the competitions marked the 30th anniversary of Marina Lobach's victory at the Olympic Games. Last year's medalists Darya Tkacheva, Aryna Krasnarutskaya and Ksenia Steshyts performed well at their debut junior world championships.

This year’s competitions will be a serious stage to get ready for the 2020 Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships in Kiev.

The Presidential Sport Club, one of the major organizers of the competitions, will present awards and presents to winners and medalists, the best athletes in ten nominations and also all participants, coaches, and judges.

The tournament is organized by the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, Presidential Sport Club, the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry, the National Olympic Center in Rhythmic Gymnastics, the Belarusian Gymnastics Association, the Belarusian Sport and Physical Training Society Dinamo and the Minsk City Hall.
