MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Erik Arutiunian of Belarus has advanced to the main draw of the ATP Challenger 50 tournament in Astana, featuring a prize fund of $63,000, BelTA has learned.
In the decisive qualification match, Arutiunian defeated Malaysian Mitsuki Wei Kang Leong in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. In the first qualifying round, Erik Arutiunian also secured a straight-sets victory over Russian Egor Pleshivtsev, winning 6-3, 6-3.
In the opening doubles match, Belarus’ Sergey Betov and India’s Karan Singh will face another Indian player, Nitin Kumar Sinha, and Uisung Park of the Republic of Korea. The day before, in the doubles final in Istanbul, Sergey Betov and Russian Ilia Simakin lost to the Turkish-British tandem of Arda Azkara and James MacKinlay, 3-6, 1-6.
The competition in Kazakhstan’s capital will conclude on 16 August.
