Artyom Parakhovsky, Anastasia Veremeyenko named Belarus’ best basketball players of 2015

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian newspaper Pressball has named Artyom Parakhovsky and Anastasia Veremeyenko Belarus’ best basketball players of 2015, BelTA has learned.

The center of Belarus’ national basketball team and Russia’s UNICS Kazan Artyom Parakhovsky got the title of the best male basketball player for the second year in a row. According to the results of the poll conducted by the newspaper, he was largely ahead of Alexander Kudryavtsev and Alexei Lashkevich of BC Tsmoki Minsk.

As for female basketball players, the competition was much more intense. The center of Belarus’ national basketball team and Turkish Fenerbahce Anastasia Veremeyenko won the title beating Yelena Levchenko of Chinese Guangdong by one point. Maria Popova currently playing for BC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk rounded out the top three.

Igor Grishchuk was named best coach among men’s teams. Anatoly Buyalsky was recognized best coach among women’s teams for the eighth time. Under the supervision of Igor Grishchuk Tsmoki Minsk won the national championship and the Cup of Belarus, did well in the VTB United League and Eurocup. Anatoly Buyalsky led the national women’s team to the fourth place at the EuroBasket Women 2015, which will enable the team to continue fighting for the license to the Summer Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The poll, which featured 70 basketball professionals and sports journalists, was held for the 24th time.
