Ancient Egyptian treasures on display in Belarus

Treasures of Ancient Egypt in MinskMINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Belarus is the first European stop in the itinerary of the travelling exhibition Treasures of Ancient Egypt, BelTA learned from the curator Alejandra Torres as the exhibition was opened in the National Art Museum of Belarus on 11 September.

According to the source, it took about ten years to implement the idea to arrange such an exhibition. The time was spent getting all the approvals and permits. The exhibition was initially opened in Chile in 2011 for the first time. After a lengthy tour in Brazil, Peru, and other Latin America countries the exhibition crossed the Atlantic Ocean for the first time to arrive in Belarus. It is symbolical because ancestors of the owner of the exhibition came from Belarus. The exhibition is designed to highlight the most vivid fragments of the Egyptian culture and history.

Treasures of Ancient Egypt in MinskBelarusian Deputy Culture Minister Alexander Yatsko noted that the exhibition is a fine example of public private partnership. It is the third joint project that has been implemented together with the company Berin Art Management. This unique project is a vivid event on the country’s cultural palette.

The exhibition occupies four halls in the museum. It reveals the true wealth and history of a civilization full of riddles and mysteries. There are more than 300 exhibits on display, including a funeral mask of the pharaoh Tutankhamun, a mysterious sphinx, statues of gods, mummies, jewelry, sarcophaguses, amulets, ancient papyruses, and many other things.

Treasures of Ancient Egypt in MinskThe exhibition Treasures of Ancient Egypt is divided into six theme zones. Visitors will be able to learn about the daily life of ancient Egyptians, their agriculture, military technology, boat building. Visitors will be able to get familiar with dynasties of the Egyptian rulers and peculiarities of the afterlife cult.

The exhibition will stay open through 10 December.
