Almost 2,300 COVID-19 patients undergo rehabilitation in Belarus

MINSK DISTRICT, 15 July (BelTA) - Almost 2,300 people in Belarus have undergone medical rehabilitation after contracting COVID-19. The data was presented during Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko's visit to the National Center for Medical Expertise and Rehabilitation, BelTA has learned.

In April, the center was repurposed for early hospital rehabilitation of patients who suffered from COVID-19 pneumonia. About 430 patients were rehabilitated here. 87% of them recovered and were discharged. The rest continued treatment.

The center features two inpatient departments with a total of 110 beds. About 2,500 people use medical rehabilitation services here every year. It is the only specialized center in the country for rehabilitation of Belarusian citizens and foreigners after treatment of malignant tumors.

The outpatient consulting and polyclinic department of the center provides consulting assistance to healthcare organizations in complex expert cases. A total of 1,966 patients got advice in 2019, 802 patients – from the start of 2020. The export of services reached $64,100 in 2019 (110.5% of the plan). In H1 2020 the export of services made up $7,500 (107.1% of the plan).
