About Br40bn to be earmarked for Gazprom for Children in Belarus program in 2016

GOMEL, 8 April (BelTA) - About Br40 billion will be invested by OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus in the Gazprom for Children in Belarus program in 2016, company’s General Director Vladimir Mayorov told media after the opening of the Gomel Olympic Reserve College in Mozyr on 8 April, BelTA has learned.

On 8 April the meeting of the supervisory board with the participation of Chairman of the Board of Gazprom Vitaly Markelov considered the report on the implementation of the social project Gazprom for Children in Belarus, outlined plans for the ongoing year.

According to Vladimir Mayorov, the next stages of the implementation of the project in Belarus will be the completion of the construction of sport Olympic centers in Orsha and Osipovichi. The design and estimate documentation will be developed for the construction of a sport center in the agro-town of Mikhanovichi, Minsk District. There are also plans to set up an outdoor sports ground with a modern covering in Kobrin.

“The program is long-term which means we will continue taking part in various social projects aimed at the development of the children’s and youth sport in Belarus,” said the Director General of OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus.

The construction of the sport center in Mozyr was carried out as part of the pilot project of the Gazprom for Children in Belarus social program. The program is one of the full-scale areas of Gazprom’s biggest social project. It is aimed at creating full-fledged conditions for the harmonic development of the children’s and youth sport in Belarus, strengthening the health of the nation and advancing a healthy lifestyle in the society. The program was launched in 2015 and is conducted by OAO Gazprom Transgaz Belarus with the help of local budgets.
