About 200 war veterans to take part in Independence Day cerebrations in Minsk

MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) - About 200 veterans will take part in the festivities in Minsk on 3 July, Zhanna Romanovich, the head of the labor, employment and social security department at the Minsk City Hall, told the media on 26 June, BelTA has learned.

About 200 war veterans will take part in the Independence Day celebrations around the Minsk Hero City Stele (parade and festive program). The war veterans participate in such events only with the approval of their physicians,” Zhanna Romanovich noted.

“A total of 2,358 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and a little more than 2,500 people affected by the consequences of wars live in Minsk today. The campaign “Our care to the veterans” has been underway in Minsk for three months. We examine their living conditions, help them clean their apartments and solve other current problems. Traditionally the government implements the measures to support the veterans. The city of Minsk provides additional social support to certain categories of citizens, including the veterans of the Great Patriotic War. More than 12,500 people are the recipients of these types of social support. Work will be continued,” Zhanna Romanovich noted.
