2025 Cancun Tennis Open: Shymanovich reaches quarterfinal

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 234 Iryna Shymanovich battled through World No.160 Taylah Preston of Australia, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, to advance to the 2025 Cancun Tennis Open last eight, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian defeated Germany’s world number 74 Tatjana Maria, 6-2, 6-2, in the opener.

Iryna Shymanovich will next face World No.146 Francesca Jones of the UK.

In the doubles round one Iryna Shymanovich and Russia’s Maria Kozyreva beat US players Alana Smith and Maria Mateas, 6-4, 6-2. In the quarterfinal the Belarusian-Russian duo will take on Australian players Taylah Preston and Maya Joint.

The tennis event in Cancun will be over on 16 February.
