1st RSDLP Congress Museum renews exposition ahead of October Revolution anniversary

MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) - The House-Museum of the First Congress of the Russian Social-Democratic Labor Party in Minsk has renewed its expositions ahead of the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. The museum is a branch of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA learned from the museum.

The new exposition delves deeper into the history of the congress and its participants, the gendarme police, socio-political movements of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, everyday life of the provincial Minsk, history and activities of the museum. By the way, renowned Belarusian writers Yanka Kupala and Zmitrok Byadulya lived in this house in the 1920s.

The expositions feature new objects from the holdings of the museum and the National History Museum of Belarus which are exhibited with the use of modern museum equipment, design, and lighting. Visitors are welcomed by reconstructed figures of the early 20th-century photographer, railwayman, and policeman. The museum offers audio guide services in Belarusian, Russian and English.

The House-Museum of the 1st Congress of the RSDLP opened in 1923. Its expositions are dedicated to the important event in the history of the social-democratic movement. Over the years, the House-Museum has been a must-see for visiting official delegations, tourist groups, students, and schoolchildren.
