Snowy November in Belarus

Snowy November in Belarus
18 Nov 2022

Winter stormed into Belarus on 17 November bringing gusty arctic winds, rapid temperature drop and the first snow of the season. The weather changed dramatically overnight evoking a mix of emotions: joy in anticipation of the holidays, astonishment and delight of the beauty of the first snow.

In a matter of hours, all traces of the mild autumn were gone. According to meteorologists, October 2022 was the warmest on record, and the national average temperature was 1-2 °C above the norm. Unusually warm weather persisted through early November. The average daily air temperature ranged from +6 to +11 °C, which is 3-10 °C above the climatic norm.

It is not surprising that the sudden evening snowfall was reminiscent of a miracle, which is a very exciting experience regardless of whether you are a child or an adult…
